Onboarding your team

Documentation · 3 min read

Onboarding is about getting people productive in admin without breaking the live guest menu. Carte is multi-user through your identity provider; this page describes practical roles and a sensible first-week checklist.

Who does what

  • Owner — Stripe, billing-sensitive settings, and destructive changes (where your org allows).
  • Menu editor — categories, items, promotions, images, and design presets.
  • Front-of-house — watches paid orders (where exposed in your deployment) and helps guests with the public menu link.

First session checklist

1

Walk the guest path

Open the public menu in a private window. Add an item to the cart and stop before payment if Stripe is not connected yet — you should still see modifiers and totals behave as expected.

2

Dry-run a menu change

In admin, tweak a price or description and refresh the guest menu. Publishing is immediate; use this to train staff on how updates appear.

3

Agree on support contacts

Decide who guests call for order issues versus who handles Stripe / Carte technical questions. Put those details in your restaurant profile so they surface in the menu footer.
