Getting started

Carte gives you a public menu guests can browse on the web, a cart and checkout backed by your own Stripe account, and an admin workspace to manage categories, dishes, and promotions. This guide is the fastest path from an empty tenant to your first published menu.

Before you begin

  • You can sign in to your Carte tenant as an owner or editor.
  • Your restaurant profile has a display name and at least basic contact info.
  • You are ready to connect Stripe when you want to take live payments.

Recommended order

1

Set restaurant identity

Open Restaurant and confirm your name, timezone, currency, and contact details. Timezone powers the open-now badge on the public menu; currency formats prices.

2

Create categories and items

Under Categories and Menu items, build the structure guests will scroll. Start with a small set of categories so you can verify the flow end-to-end.

3

Connect Stripe

When you are ready for payments, complete Connect your Stripe account. Until charges are enabled, checkout will not complete for guests.

4

Share your menu

Send guests the public URL for your deployment (often /menu on your domain). They can order pickup or dine-in depending on how you configure fulfillment at checkout.
